The waters have cleared and the fishing is good and his friends from Pittsburg caught 8 yellowfin tuna , the largest being 150 lbs. Thats what they were after and that what they got. Also 2 sails.
The charter boats out of Los Suenos Marina have seen a lot of action this past week. Most boats are reporting up totwelve sailfish releases and there seem to be a more marlin around at this time. The action is good off of Cabo Blanco. The water is clean
and there is a lot of bait fish.
So far March is looking real good. The anglers from Las Vegas, Richard Rohr and Bruce Gwin had a good day yesterday with 3 sailfish and a 40 lb. Dorado. Captain Tom and Mr. and Mrs. Terri Smith reported 8 sailfish and a blue marlin on the 4th of March. The Louis Casale group of 3 anglers averaged 3 sails a day.
We only fished a 1/2 day on the 14. We took Steve Hooden's group out 12 miles and found blue water and on the 13 mile we hooked the first sailfish of our 1/2 day. We caught and released 3 more sailfish and also a nice dorado. The "bite" is definitely improving, boats that fished yesterday reported up to 35bites. his party of 4 fished the last 2 days and caught and released 3 sailfish and caught 3 dorado. On Tuesday caught and released 4 sails and caught a big dorado. They are fishing on Thursday and Friday, we will report on that and hopefully the bite is on!!
This week we are expecting a "big bite" because the moon is turning to a new moon. This will give a lot more tidal surge and that is what makes the fish bite.
The billfish are picking up at this time. Boats are reporting 5 to 7 sailfish a day. Terry and Mike Smith from the United Kingdom did some night fishing and caught 6 corbera snapper, weighing between 20-35 lbs:
The offshore fishing from Los Suenos Marina has been fair to good. A lot of big dorado are being caught; anywhere from 40 to 60 lbs. Sail fishing is starting to get good, also. We are raising from 10 to 20 a day and releasing 5 to 15. The marlin bite is getting better, we are raising a couple of marlin every day, blue, black and striped, ranging from 80 to 600 lbs. Also, a few nice yellow fin tuna in the 200lb. range.
